Mat´s background was as a solo pianist and contributor to the early German electronic dance movement Time Warp. In 2007, he joined forces with Dennis, a producer for many seminal German dance artists to create the formidable production team Groove Phenomenon. Dennis Bierbrodt was Grammy Nominated for his Work on Jean Elean´s remix of “The Girl And the Robot” by Röyksopp.
Their first release, “Funky Radio (Radio Ga Ga 2007)”, a re-work of the Queen classic of 1984 which was released on Ministry Of Sound (Germany) in 2007.
After a 2 year hiatus, the pair return with their rocking new tune for Missspelt Music a division of Toolroom UK in February 2010 "Non, je ne regrette rien". This track showcased Groove Phenomenon´s upfront floor-rocking dance sounds with massive drops and huge hooks! The remake of Edith Piaf’s worldwide known song caused lots of attention on the Dancefloors
In April this year, he started his collaboration with the young producers Carsten Scholz aka “Jean Philips”.Carsten already produced successful tracks for the label "Sorry Shoes". Together they form a symbiosis of creativity and artistic standards.
Their first release, an RMX for the Track “„Piere Deutschmann – Ain´t Theoretical (Jean Philips & Mat Holtmann RMX)“ on the Label “das Ohr” was published in the Year 2010 and had massiv support from Roger Sanchez .
